Dedicated to a multi-disciplinary approach to design and planning challenges, Steve adds his extensive background in urban design, architecture, and landscape architecture to Framework and our project teams. His work focuses on effective placemaking, building upon the distinctive assets and environmental quality of each place, district, and community. He has been the leader of urban design/land planning for new development and infrastructure, campus and downtown plans, waterfront planning and design, streetscapes, and many other project types. On a nationwide basis, he led innovative urban planning and design initiatives for electric vehicle technologies and Bus Rapid Transit, serving as professional advisor and manager for coalitions of federal agencies, utilities and corporations. He began his career in Seattle before moving to Boston where he founded and led a substantial multi-disciplinary practice for many years, prior to his return to the Pacific Northwest.
Recently named to the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects, he is a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects and the National Trust for Historic Preservation. He has garnered awards for a diverse range of projects that he has directed over the past three decades. Steve has served as a studio instructor in both the urban design and urban planning programs at Harvard's Graduate School of Design.
